Where is Ghislaine Maxwell now and what is her sentence?

The Conviction

Ghislaine Maxwell was convicted on December 29, 2021, on five federal counts including sex trafficking of a minor, after a trial in the Southern District of New York.

The Sentence

In June 2022, Judge Alison Nathan sentenced Maxwell to 20 years in federal prison. The judge described the abuse as ‘devastating and lasting’ trauma for survivors.

Where She Is Held

Maxwell is incarcerated at FCI Tallahassee in Florida, a low-security federal facility. She is eligible for release approximately in 2037, when she will be in her mid-70s.

Her Appeals

Maxwell has pursued several appeals. Her attorneys have raised arguments about juror disclosure issues. Appeals courts have so far not overturned the conviction.

Her Public Statements

From prison, Maxwell has given media interviews. She has expressed regret about her friendship with Epstein and disputed certain aspects of the victim testimony, while not fully acknowledging the scope of her conduct.
