What was the reaction of Harvard University to the Epstein donations controversy?

Harvard University received donations totaling approximately .1 million connected to Jeffrey Epstein, including direct gifts and funds channeled through intermediaries to the Program for Evolutionary Dynamics (PED) founded by Martin Nowak. Following Epstein’s 2019 arrest, Harvard conducted an internal review and ultimately decided to keep the funds, arguing they had been spent on legitimate research. In October 2019, Harvard committed ,000 to support survivors of trafficking. Critics, including Harvard faculty and students, argued this was inadequate and that the decision to keep money given after the 2008 conviction was indefensible. Martin Nowak’s program was dissolved in 2020 following a separate investigation into lab management issues.
