How old were Epstein’s victims?
Epstein’s victims spanned a wide age range, but the documented core of his criminal operation targeted minors, primarily girls aged 13 to 17 years old.
The Criminal Charges: The 2019 SDNY indictment specified that Epstein abused “dozens” of minors between 2002 and 2005 in New York and Florida. The 2008 Florida state prosecution identified at least 36 minor victims.
Maxwell Trial Testimony: The four survivors who testified at the Maxwell trial described being recruited between the ages of 14 and 17:
- “Jane” — recruited at approximately 14 years old via a music camp in New York
- “Kate” — a British victim recruited at around 17 in London
- “Carolyn” — recruited at 14 years old in Palm Beach
- Annie Farmer — recruited at 16 to visit Zorro Ranch in New Mexico
Virginia Giuffre: Giuffre, perhaps the best-known public survivor, was first victimized at approximately 16–17 years old after being recruited at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach.
Adult Victims: While the criminal focus was on minors, numerous women have also described being trafficked by Epstein as adults. Some were first victimized as minors and continued to be abused into adulthood. The trafficking of adults for sexual exploitation is also a federal crime when force, fraud, or coercion is used.
The Youngest Known Victim: Court documents and victim accounts have referenced victims as young as 13 years old. The specific identities of many victims remain protected in court filings under Jane Doe designations.
