Carolyn one of four Jane Does who testified under pseudonyms at the 2021 Maxwell trial was one of the government’s most significant witnesses. She testified that she was recruited to give sexual massages to Jeffrey Epstein beginning when she was approximately 14 years old.
Her Testimony: Carolyn described being recruited through a friend who was part of Epstein’s network. She said she went to Epstein’s Palm Beach residence and gave him massages that became sexual in nature. She testified she was paid cash for each visit and continued going to his home for approximately four years, including into her teen years.
Maxwell’s Role: Critically, Carolyn testified that she met Ghislaine Maxwell directly, and that Maxwell touched her body and complimented her appearance in a way that made her feel she was being evaluated. This testimony was central to the government’s case that Maxwell knowingly participated in the grooming and abuse.
Cross-Examination: Maxwell’s defense challenged Carolyn’s memory and consistency of her account. However, the jury found her testimony credible along with that of the other accusers.
