All four survivor witnesses described Maxwell’s direct involvement: she recruited them, touched them inappropriately herself in some cases, was present or nearby during Epstein’s abuse, and validated the situations as normal.

The Deeper Question
Whether Maxwell understood the full criminality of the enterprise in the way an experienced criminal attorney would, and whether she rationalized some of it to herself, is a psychological question the legal verdict does not answer.
