What happened to Epstein’s private jets?
Jeffrey Epstein owned several private aircraft over the years, the most notorious of which was a Boeing 727 nicknamed the “Lolita Express” by media. After his death, these assets became part of his estate.
His Aircraft: At the time of his death, Epstein owned or controlled:
- A large Boeing 727 (N908JE) — his main long-range jet capable of intercontinental travel
- A Gulfstream G-1159B (N120JE)
- A Bell 430 helicopter (N330JE) used to transport passengers from Little Saint James
The Flight Logs: The flight records from these aircraft became crucial evidence. They documented who was on board each flight and where the planes traveled, placing prominent individuals — including politicians, academics, and celebrities — in Epstein’s orbit. The logs were subpoenaed in various civil proceedings and released under court order.
After His Death: The estate liquidated Epstein’s aircraft as part of the broader asset disposition process. The 727 was reportedly sold, with proceeds going to the estate and ultimately toward victim compensation. The aircraft registrations were deactivated.
Evidence Value: Aviation records are considered among the most reliable forms of evidence in the Epstein case because they are maintained independently by federal aviation authorities and cannot be easily altered. The FAA maintained its own records separately from whatever Epstein’s staff might have kept.
Why the Nickname? The “Lolita Express” nickname came from early tabloid coverage, referencing the Vladimir Nabokov novel whose protagonist is a pedophile. The term became widely used in media despite objections from some advocates who felt it trivialized the crimes.
