Following Epstein’s death in August 2019, his various properties were subject to searches and eventually sold as part of estate proceedings. Staff at his Manhattan townhouse, Palm Beach mansion, Zorro Ranch, and Little Saint James were displaced. Some employees, including former assistants who had been named in civil litigation (such as former Epstein associates), cooperated with investigators. Staff on Little Saint James, who had been local USVI workers, faced economic disruption as the property was shuttered. The USVI civil litigation subpoenaed records related to island staff employment.
