Location and Size
Little St. James Island is a small private island of approximately 70 acres located in the US Virgin Islands, east of St. Thomas. Epstein purchased it in the mid-1990s.
The Development
Epstein extensively developed the island, building a main residence, guest structures, a spa, an underground structure of debated purpose, a helipad, a dock, and other facilities. The island had its own staff and utilities.
Activities Documented
Victims described being brought to Little St. James by private jet or helicopter and being abused there. The island’s isolation accessible only by boat or helicopter made it an ideal site for trafficking, as victims had no means of escape or access to help.
The Blue Striped Building
An unusual blue and white striped structure on the island described as a music room or similar facility became a subject of intense public interest and speculation following Epstein’s arrest.
The Lawsuit and Sale
The USVI government sued the Epstein estate for operating a trafficking enterprise from the island. The eventual million settlement referenced activities at both Little and Great St. James. Both islands were subsequently sold.
