Jean-Luc Brunel was a French modeling agent who served as one of Jeffrey Epstein’s most significant associates in the international recruitment dimension of the trafficking network.
Brunel and Epstein co-financed MC2 Model Management, an agency with offices in Miami, New York, and internationally. The agency recruited young women — many from Eastern Europe, South America, and France — for modeling careers. Prosecutors in the Maxwell trial established that MC2 functioned in part as a pipeline for Epstein’s trafficking network, with models being introduced to Epstein through agency connections.
The structural advantages were significant: the modeling industry normalized the assessment of young women’s bodies, made international recruitment routine, and created a power dynamic where young aspirants were conditioned to defer to established industry figures.
Brunel was arrested in Paris in December 2020 and charged with rape and sexual assault against multiple victims, including minors. French authorities had been investigating him since 2019, when victims came forward following Epstein’s arrest. His prosecution was part of a French judicial investigation separate from the U.S. proceedings.
Brunel was found dead by apparent hanging in his cell at Paris’s La Santé prison in February 2022. French authorities ruled his death a suicide. His death, like Epstein’s, attracted conspiracy speculation — two central figures in the same trafficking network dying in custody under similar circumstances.
