Ghislaine Maxwell

Where is Ghislaine Maxwell imprisoned?

Question

Where is Ghislaine Maxwell imprisoned?

Answer

Ghislaine Maxwell is serving her 20-year federal prison sentence at FCI Tallahassee, the Federal Correctional Institution in Tallahassee, Florida.

Maxwell was convicted on December 29, 2021, on five of six counts including sex trafficking of a minor and conspiracy charges related to her role in Jeffrey Epstein’s abuse network. She was sentenced on June 28, 2022, by U.S. District Judge Alison Nathan to 20 years in federal prison.

Maxwell appealed her conviction and sentence. Her legal team argued, among other things, that the use of a particular juror who discussed his own abuse history during deliberations warranted a new trial — a claim that was denied by courts. She also filed separate appeals challenging the legality of her prosecution under the terms of Jeffrey Epstein’s 2008 non-prosecution agreement, which courts also rejected.

With time served and standard good behavior credits, Maxwell could potentially be released in the mid-2030s, though the full 20-year term runs to approximately 2042.

She has not been reported to have cooperated with investigators in identifying other members of Epstein’s network or in any separate criminal investigations.
