Florida was the site of the original investigation and prosecution. The 2008 state plea in Palm Beach County resolved Florida state charges. Following Epstein’s death, Florida state investigations were largely moot due to his death.
New York
New York State authorities examined Epstein’s activities at his Manhattan townhouse and his sex offender registration compliance. The New York AG’s office investigated financial aspects.
New Mexico
New Mexico Attorney General Hector Balderas opened an investigation into activities at Zorro Ranch in 2019. The investigation examined whether New Mexico law had been violated at the ranch.
The USVI
The USVI Attorney General opened the most aggressive state-level action a civil lawsuit against the Epstein estate. The USVI AG Denise George filed the complaint alleging trafficking operations at the island properties, eventually settling for million.
France
While not a US state, France opened criminal investigations into Jean-Luc Brunel and potential trafficking of women through France. The French proceedings ended with Brunel’s death in custody.
