Virginia Giuffre’s Background
Virginia Giuffre (born Virginia Roberts) was a teenager from a working-class background in Florida when she was recruited by Ghislaine Maxwell at Mar-a-Lago in 2000, while working as a locker room attendant at the club.
The Recruitment
Maxwell approached the 15 or 16-year-old Virginia and told her about the work she did for a wealthy man. Virginia was in a difficult home situation and was receptive to the opportunity.
What She Alleges
Giuffre alleges she was repeatedly sexually abused by Epstein and trafficked to other powerful men including Prince Andrew and Alan Dershowitz. She describes being taken on international trips aboard Epstein’s private aircraft.
Her Decision to Go Public
Giuffre was one of the first Epstein victims to go fully public with her identity and allegations. She gave media interviews and filed civil lawsuits. Her advocacy was instrumental in maintaining public attention on the case.
