Darren Indyke was Jeffrey Epstein’s longtime personal attorney, associated with the law firm Indyke & Kagan. He had represented Epstein in various legal and financial matters for many years before Epstein’s 2019 death.
Two days before Epstein died at MCC New York on August 10, 2019, Epstein executed a new will naming Indyke and accountant Richard Kahn as co-executors of his estate. The estate was placed in a trust called the 1953 Epstein Virgin Islands Trust, referencing Epstein’s birth year.
As co-executor, Indyke played a central role in managing the estate proceedings that followed — including the establishment of the Epstein Victims’ Compensation Program (EVCP), which ultimately paid over $121 million to more than 150 claimants. Victim advocates questioned whether Indyke and Kahn, as Epstein intimates, could serve without conflicts of interest, but the EVCP was ultimately structured with an independent administrator.
The will’s execution just two days before Epstein’s death also attracted scrutiny about whether the asset transfer structure was designed to complicate victim claims.
