Background

Edgar Miles Bronfman Jr. was born in 1955 as the son of Edgar Bronfman Sr., the heir to the Seagram Company distilled spirits fortune. He grew up in the Bronfman family’s privileged world and attempted a career in the entertainment industry as a songwriter and film producer before becoming an executive.

In 1994, Bronfman Jr. acquired a controlling stake in MCA/Universal entertainment, selling Seagram’s DuPont stake to fund the purchase. He eventually merged Universal with Vivendi in 2000 to create Vivendi Universal, a transaction widely criticized at the time as overpriced. The deal substantially depleted the Seagram/Bronfman fortune. He later became chairman of Warner Music Group.

His father, Edgar Bronfman Sr., had a separate and documented history of social connection to Epstein and appeared independently in the documentary record of the case.
