Martin Weinberg
aliveDefense Attorney Epstein 2008 and 2019 Cases
Background
Martin G. Weinberg is a prominent Boston-based federal criminal defense attorney with extensive experience in complex white-collar and criminal matters in federal courts. He has represented defendants in numerous high-profile cases over his career.
2008 Representation
Weinberg was part of Jeffrey Epstein’s defense team in the 2008 Florida proceedings that concluded with the non-prosecution agreement negotiated with then-U.S. Attorney Alex Acosta. The defense team which also included Alan Dershowitz, Kenneth Starr, Roy Black, and Jay Lefkowitz successfully obtained extraordinarily lenient terms for Epstein.
2019 Federal Case
When Epstein was arrested by SDNY prosecutors in July 2019, Weinberg again served as one of his defense attorneys. The 2019 federal defense team also included Marc Agnifilo (who led the bail arguments) and Reid Weingarten.
Weinberg’s role in the 2019 case ended when Epstein died in custody on August 10, 2019, before the case went to trial.
