Richard Kahn

Background

Richard Kahn was a financial manager who worked closely with Jeffrey Epstein managing his wealth and financial affairs over many years. He and attorney Darren Indyke were the two individuals Epstein designated to administer his estate.

Executor Role

On August 8, 2019 two days before his death Epstein signed a last will and testament placing an estimated million in assets into a trust administered by Indyke and Kahn. The timing signing a will just before death raised questions from victims’ advocates who argued it was an attempt to place assets beyond reach of victim claims.

As co-executors, Kahn and Indyke were responsible for all aspects of the estate administration including: establishing and managing the Epstein Victims’ Compensation Program (2020); negotiating the million USVI settlement; managing property dispositions; and satisfying creditor claims.

Scrutiny

Both Kahn and Indyke faced scrutiny in proceedings brought by victims who argued they had managed Epstein’s affairs with knowledge of his criminal activities. The estate’s compensation programs and settlements were the primary vehicles through which victims received recoveries.
