Alan Dershowitz and Jeffrey Epstein: Legal Representation and Accusations

Harvard Law professor Alan Dershowitz was a central member of Epstein's defense team in 2008 and has been accused by Virginia Giuffre of sexual abuse — accusations he forcefully denies.

Dershowitz as Defense Attorney

Alan Dershowitz — Harvard Law professor and prominent appellate litigator — was a member of Epstein’s 2008 defense team, alongside Kenneth Starr, Jack Goldberger, and Jay Lefkowitz. He participated in the NPA negotiations that resulted in Epstein’s favorable plea deal.

Virginia Giuffre’s Accusation

Giuffre alleged in civil court filings that Dershowitz was among the men Maxwell directed her to have sex with while she was a minor. She included his name in an affidavit filed in the Giuffre v. Maxwell proceedings.

Dershowitz’s Response

Dershowitz denied the allegations and pursued counter-litigation, filing defamation suits and publishing detailed rebuttals including timelines he argued made the encounters impossible.

Giuffre and Dershowitz settled in 2022, with Giuffre stating she “may have made a mistake.” Dershowitz characterized this as vindication; Giuffre’s attorneys disputed that characterization.
