Background
Chauntae Davies was a 22-year-old aspiring actress and certified massage therapist working in Los Angeles when she was recruited into Epstein’s operation in 2001. She was introduced to Ghislaine Maxwell through a mutual acquaintance and offered the opportunity to provide massage services to wealthy clients on what Maxwell described as a kind of floating salon for intellectuals and celebrities. This framing was consistent with the recruitment approach documented in numerous other survivors’ accounts.
Recruitment and Abuse
Davies accompanied Epstein on international flights aboard his private jet—the aircraft referred to as the “Lolita Express” in media coverage—and alleges that Epstein sexually assaulted her on the plane during a transatlantic journey. In her account, she had taken sleeping medication and awoke to find Epstein assaulting her. She has described this and subsequent encounters as non-consensual and traumatic. Like other survivors, she describes a gradual process in which the initial legitimate offer of paid work was replaced with explicit pressure for sexual contact.
Public Testimony and Media
Davies appeared prominently in the Netflix documentary series Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich (2020), which was one of the first major documentary treatments of the case and reached a very large audience. Her on-camera testimony provided a detailed and accessible account of how the operation worked. She also participated in the ABC News documentary The Epstein Scandal and gave multiple print and podcast interviews during the renewed public attention following Epstein’s 2019 arrest and death.
Memoir
Davies published a book detailing her experiences and the years of silence that followed, discussing the psychological impact of abuse, the shame and victim-blaming dynamics she navigated, and her eventual decision to speak publicly. Her account touched on the experience of being on the periphery of extreme wealth and power and the way social intimidation operated as a control mechanism.
Advocacy
Davies has worked with survivor organizations and spoken about the need for legal reform to extend statutes of limitations for trafficking victims. She has appeared before audiences at victim advocacy events and participated in policy discussions about sex trafficking prevention and survivor support.
