Jeffrey Epstein’s communications records — his phones, email accounts, address books, and contact databases — have been central evidence targets in civil litigation, federal criminal proceedings, and investigative journalism about his network.
The Black Book
The most significant communications document associated with Epstein is his leather-bound address book, maintained by longtime associate Alfredo Rodriguez. Rodriguez, Epstein’s former household manager, attempted to sell a copy of the book to a victim’s attorney after Epstein’s 2008 conviction. Rodriguez was arrested in 2009 and convicted of obstruction of justice.
The address book, known as the “Epstein Black Book” or “Little Black Book,” contained approximately 1,000 contact entries including phone numbers, addresses, and notations for hundreds of individuals — from household staff to global political figures. A copy was obtained by journalist Gawker, which published it in 2015. The book named Bill Clinton, Donald Trump, Ehud Barak, Kevin Spacey, and hundreds of others.
Email and Digital Records
Federal agents who searched Epstein’s properties in 2019 seized substantial quantities of electronic equipment, phones, computers, and storage devices. Court filings referenced the seizure of thousands of images and contact files. The full contents of these digital records have not been publicly released.
In civil litigation, email correspondence was subpoenaed from Epstein’s associates, resulting in disclosures about the communications between Ghislaine Maxwell’s team and Epstein’s lawyers during the NPA negotiation period.
Phone Records in the Maxwell Trial
During the Maxwell trial, prosecutors presented evidence from phone logs and communications establishing the pattern of contact between Maxwell and victims, between Maxwell and Epstein, and between Maxwell and the recruiters who fed victims into the network.
Ongoing Relevance
The communications records seized in 2019 remain a subject of ongoing legal proceedings and FOIA requests. Advocates for transparency have argued that the full digital archive of Epstein’s communications could implicate additional individuals not yet held accountable.
