Overview
Former President Bill Clinton’s connection to Jeffrey Epstein is one of the most documented but also most disputed aspects of the Epstein network. Flight logs show Clinton flew on Epstein’s Boeing 727 on multiple occasions, and Epstein contributed or facilitated contributions to Clinton-related charitable causes. Clinton has categorically denied ever witnessing any illegal activity.
The Flight Logs
Subpoenaed flight logs covering approximately 2001-2005 show Bill Clinton as a passenger on Epstein’s aircraft on at least 26 occasions. Documented destinations include:
- Africa Multiple trips related to Clinton Foundation AIDS/health initiatives
- Europe London and continental destinations
- United States Domestic flights
Clinton’s spokesperson acknowledged the Africa trips, explaining they were Clinton Foundation humanitarian missions aboard a privately donated aircraft.
Clinton’s Statements
Clinton issued statements through his office acknowledging he had flown on Epstein’s plane but:
- Denying he had ever been to Epstein’s island (Little Saint James)
- Denying he had ever witnessed any illegal activity
- Stating he had visited Epstein’s Manhattan townhouse on several occasions for charity discussions
Donations and Philanthropy
Epstein contributed approximately ,000 to ,000 to Clinton-era initiatives and was involved in facilitating introductions to other donors. The nature of the relationship was characterized as donor-fundraiser rather than personal friendship.
What the Records Establish
Flight log entries establish that Clinton traveled on Epstein’s aircraft. They do not establish that Clinton witnessed, participated in, or had knowledge of Epstein’s criminal conduct. No allegations naming Clinton in any criminal capacity have been substantiated in any court proceeding.
Context
During the mid-2000s, Epstein’s network of philanthropic and social connections gave him access to dozens of powerful figures. Clinton was one of many who accepted the use of Epstein’s aircraft or attended events Epstein hosted, without apparent awareness of the full nature of Epstein’s activities.
