Bill Clinton and Jeffrey Epstein: The Documented Relationship
Bill Clinton’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein is extensively documented in flight logs, photographs, and third-party accounts, and represents one of the more politically sensitive dimensions of the Epstein social network.
Flight Log Documentation
Flight logs for Epstein’s aircraft — the Boeing 727 nicknamed “Lolita Express” and a Gulfstream — show Bill Clinton as a passenger on at least 26 documented flights between 2002 and 2003 (and possibly beyond). The flights included:
- Domestic US flights
- International flights, including to several African countries for Clinton Foundation-related trips
- Flights to or from Epstein’s USVI island, Little Saint James
The 26 flights include multiple roundtrips and multi-leg journeys. Clinton’s spokesperson has confirmed some flights while disputing others and the total count.
The Africa Humanitarian Trips (2002-2003)
Several of the documented Clinton-Epstein flights related to humanitarian or global health work connected to the Clinton Foundation and Clinton Global Initiative. Clinton utilized Epstein’s aircraft for travel to sub-Saharan Africa in connection with HIV/AIDS initiatives.
Clinton’s spokesperson has stated these flights were offered as philanthropic support and that Clinton was unaware of any criminal activity associated with Epstein.
Clinton Foundation Donations
Epstein made documented donations to the Clinton Foundation. The amounts and timing are recorded in publicly available donor disclosures. This financial relationship, combined with the flight documentation, represents the most concrete Clinton-Epstein connection in official records.
What Virginia Giuffre Said
Virginia Giuffre’s sworn statements referenced Clinton in connection with Little Saint James Island, stating she saw him on the island during a trip. Clinton’s spokesperson has denied this, and the claim was not the subject of criminal investigation or charging documents.
Clinton’s Statements After 2019
After Epstein’s 2019 arrest, Clinton issued a statement acknowledging four travel visits with Epstein in 2002-2003, denying ever visiting Little Saint James, and stating that he “knew nothing about the terrible crimes Jeffrey Epstein pleaded guilty to in Florida some years ago, or those with which he has been recently charged in New York.”
The Appropriate Contextualization
Clinton’s relationship with Epstein — like many prominent figures’ relationships — was well within the pattern of Epstein cultivating access to the most prominent individuals in politics, business, and academia. The documented relationships do not establish Clinton’s knowledge of or participation in Epstein’s criminal activity. They do illustrate the social reach Epstein achieved.
