The Court Order
In January 2024, Judge Loretta Preska ordered unsealing of documents from Giuffre v. Maxwell — the most significant batch of Epstein court materials to date. The order followed years of litigation by a media coalition (CNN, Miami Herald, etc.) arguing public right of access.
What Was Released
Over 150 documents including depositions from 2016, party correspondence, documentary exhibits, and portions of settlement materials.
Named Individuals
The documents named numerous public figures in connection with Giuffre’s allegations — politicians, businessmen, and celebrities. Presence in civil deposition documents reflects an allegation, not a finding of fact.
What Remained Redacted
Certain portions remained redacted including names covered by court orders, minor identifying information, and material under ongoing proceedings. Court orders in 2025 directed additional releases.
