What Was Edge Foundation?
The Edge Foundation (also the Edge website / Reality Club) was an intellectual community organized by literary agent John Brockman. It published interviews and essays from leading scientists, thinkers, and technologists. Edge ran an annual question”What is the most important idea of the year?“and hosted small invitational events where top scientists gathered in informal settings.
Epstein’s Role as Funder
Epstein was one of Edge’s significant financial backers. In exchange, he was integrated into the community as a trusted participantsomeone who could arrange dinners and access that Edge’s intellectual stars found valuable.
His funding appeared explicitly in Edge’s own acknowledgments and in correspondence. Brockman acknowledged the relationship in public statements after Epstein’s 2019 publicity.
