Overview
Jeffrey Epstein maintained extensive household staffing at his multiple properties. The employees who worked at his residences — in Palm Beach, New York, New Mexico, the USVI, and Paris — were witnesses to the patterns of activity at each location. Their accounts, gathered over years of litigation and investigation, provide one important evidential thread in the overall case record.
Scale of Staffing
At any given time, Epstein employed dozens of household staff across his properties: butlers, private chefs, housekeepers, laundry staff, groundskeepers, security personnel, and general household managers. The properties needed this staffing given their scale and Epstein’s high standards for domestic service.
What Staff Observed
Multiple former employees, in depositions and media interviews, described observing:
- Regular visits by young women and girls to the properties
- Massage tables and equipment consistent with the accounts given by victims
- The presence of Ghislaine Maxwell and other associates
- A culture in which questions about the visitors were not encouraged
Staff were typically hired and managed in ways that discouraged inquiry or comment. NDAs were standard components of employment.
The Culture of Silence
Multiple accounts describe a household culture designed to minimize information sharing. Staff at each property primarily knew only what happened at their location. Staff turnover was managed, and departing employees typically signed NDAs.
Staff as Prosecution Witnesses
Several former household employees provided witness accounts in the investigations and civil proceedings. Their observations, while often limited to what they could see from their roles, corroborated victim accounts and helped establish the operational patterns across properties.
The Security Staff Dimension
Security personnel at Epstein’s properties occupied a particular position: they had more complete visibility into who came and went but were presumably the most carefully vetted and controlled employees. The role of security staff in the overall operation has been less publicly documented than that of other household employees.
