Epstein's Private Island: Little Saint James Sold for $55 Million

Little Saint James — Epstein's private Caribbean island in the U.S. Virgin Islands — was sold in 2022 for approximately $55 million as part of estate settlement proceedings.

What Happened to Little Saint James After Epstein’s Death?

Following Epstein’s death in August 2019, his estate — including the 75-acre private island of Little Saint James in the U.S. Virgin Islands — became subject to complex probate and civil litigation.

The Sale

In 2022, the island was sold for approximately $55 million. The sale was part of estate distribution proceedings overseen by Virgin Islands courts. Proceeds were directed toward victim compensation funds and settlements with the USVI government.

Why the USVI Was Involved

The U.S. Virgin Islands government filed suit against the Epstein estate, arguing that the island had been used for sex trafficking operations affecting USVI residents and that the estate bore liability for damages to the territory. The resulting settlement directed a significant portion of estate assets to the USVI.

Current Status

Little Saint James is now privately owned. The distinctive blue-and-white temple-like structure that attracted widespread public attention before Epstein’s arrest has since been demolished as part of renovation work by the new owners.
