Among Jeffrey Epstein’s international relationships, connections to Israeli public figures were among the most documented and most frequently discussed in the context of intelligence speculation.
Ehud Barak
Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak had a publicly documented relationship with Epstein. Barak:
- Received substantial investment from Epstein for his startup Carbyne911 (an emergency response technology company)
- Was photographed entering Epstein’s Manhattan townhouse after Epstein’s 2008 conviction
- Acknowledged a “business relationship” with Epstein after 2019
- Has stated he has no knowledge of Epstein’s criminal activities
The Carbyne investment was estimated at approximately $1.25 million. Reports also noted that other Epstein-connected investors participated in the company.
The Foreign Passport Connection
Among the most seized-upon items from the 2019 Manhattan townhouse search were multiple passports. Investigators reported finding a passport issued in the Austrian name — with an address in Saudi Arabia — that bore Epstein’s photo in the 1980s-era document. The passport was allegedly used for foreign travel.
The connection of this passport to Israeli intelligence has been speculated upon but not documented in any official proceeding.
Ghislaine Maxwell and the Robert Maxwell Connection
Ghislaine Maxwell’s father Robert Maxwell was credibly reported (by multiple intelligence journalists and biographers, and Robert Maxwell’s own colleagues) to have had substantive connections to Israeli intelligence, informally to Mossad. Robert Maxwell died in 1991 under circumstances that remain disputed.
Some analysts have speculated that Ghislaine Maxwell’s willingness to develop relationships with intelligence-adjacent surveillance materials (blackmail hypothesis) would have been informed by this family context. However, no official proceeding has established Ghislaine Maxwell’s intelligence connections.

Documented:
