The townhouse hosted dinner parties, drinks events, and social gatherings attended by prominent UK figures including members of the aristocracy, media personalities, and business leaders. Maxwell’s genuine connections to the British establishment — inherited through her father Robert Maxwell’s decades of UK prominence — made these events genuinely impressive to attendees.
The Virginia Giuffre Photograph
The most significant documented event associated with the townhouse is the famous photograph showing Virginia Giuffre standing with Prince Andrew, his arm around her, and Ghislaine Maxwell smiling in the background. The photograph was taken inside what has been identified as the Belgravia townhouse.
Virginia Giuffre alleged the photograph was taken circa 2001, when she was approximately 17 years old, shortly before she says she was sexually abused by Andrew at Maxwell’s direction.
Andrew denied any recollection of meeting Giuffre and questioned the photograph’s authenticity during his November 2019 BBC Newsnight interview — a denial that was universally criticized.
UK Intelligence Interest
Because of the number of senior British political, business, and aristocratic figures who attended events at the townhouse, British intelligence services reportedly developed an interest in Epstein and Maxwell’s UK operations during this period.
