Epstein's Modeling World Strategy: Using the Fashion Industry for Recruitment

Jeffrey Epstein used the modeling and fashion world as a recruitment environment for victims. Associates like Jean-Luc Brunel ran modeling agencies that served as fronts for identification and grooming of young women.

The Modeling World Connection

The fashion and modeling industry provided Jeffrey Epstein and his associates with a legitimate social environment in which approaching young, attractive women was normalized and expected. The modeling world became a hunting ground.

Jean-Luc Brunel

Jean-Luc Brunel was a French modeling agent who co-founded MC2 Model Management, reportedly with funding from Epstein. Brunel was accused of using his modeling agency to identify young women who would then be trafficked to Epstein. He died by hanging in a French prison in February 2022 while under investigation.

Les Wexner’s Victoria’s Secret Connection

Epstein’s relationship with Les Wexner gave him connections to Victoria’s Secret, the lingerie brand that used models extensively. Some victims reported being told that Epstein had the ability to help them get Victoria’s Secret modeling opportunities, a lure used in the grooming process.

International Reach

Through Brunel’s European operations and other connections, Epstein’s modeling-based recruitment extended to Europe, Brazil, and elsewhere. Young women were brought to the United States who may have had limited English and limited ability to understand their situation.

Normalizing Access

The modeling industry context helped normalize adult men’s presence around and control over young models.
