Jeffrey Epstein owned approximately 7,500 acres of land near Stanley, New Mexico, known as Zorro Ranch. The property included a large residence, airstrip, and horse facilities.
Activities at the Ranch
Witnesses and victims described activities at Zorro Ranch consistent with what was documented at his Florida and New York properties. The ranch was also used for hosting scientific gatherings.
The 2019 Investigation
Following Epstein’s 2019 arrest, New Mexico Attorney General Hector Balderas opened a state investigation into activities at Zorro Ranch. The investigation was explicitly authorized because prior prosecutions had not addressed the New Mexico activities.
Broader New Mexico Political Response
The Epstein connection created political sensitivities in New Mexico. Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham indicated she welcomed the state investigation.
New Mexico Victims
Victims described being brought to Zorro Ranch for purposes similar to those at other Epstein properties. The remote location of the ranch was viewed as an isolation mechanism.
Estate and Sale
Following Epstein’s death, the Zorro Ranch property became part of the estate. The estate later sold the property.
