The Santa Fe Institute
The Santa Fe Institute (SFI) is a world-renowned research center focused on complexity scienceinterdisciplinary research at the intersection of physics, biology, economics, and social science. It attracts some of the most creative scientists in the world.
Epstein was a donor to SFI. The donation gave him access to the Institute’s social and intellectual calendar and the ability to invite its researchers to his properties. Following his 2019 arrest, SFI announced it was reviewing and returning donations connected to Epstein.
Zorro Ranch as an Intellectual Venue
Epstein used Zorro Ranch as a venue for multi-day intellectual gatheringsan intellectual salon format that drew on the Edge Foundation model. Scientists, economists, artists, and thinkers were invited to stay at the ranch for extended discussions.
These gatherings served Epstein’s social strategy: they had genuine intellectual content (guest speakers were leading thinkers) while positioning the ranch as an acceptable destination for high-status visitors.
The Eugenics Discussions
Multiple scientists who visited Zorro Ranch have described Epstein holding dinner conversations about eugenics, genetics, and his stated desire to enhance the human gene pool. The discussions reportedly included:
- Proposals to establish a “baby ranch” where women would be impregnated by Epstein
- Readings of research on genetic enhancement
- Discussion of brain-seeding and intelligence amplification
These conversations appear to have been dismissed by scientists as idiosyncratic without grasping their significance.
