The Network Structure
The Epstein operation was not simply Epstein himself and Ghislaine Maxwell operating directly: it included a network of young women who served as recruiters, identifying new potential victims and connecting them to the operation.
The Former Victims as Recruiters
A distinctive and disturbing aspect of the operation was that many recruiters were themselves former victims. They had been abused and then recruited into the role of finding new victims, sometimes receiving financial compensation for doing so.
How Recruitment Happened
Recruiters approached young women in public spaces schools, shopping areas, beach areas near Epstein’s Palm Beach estate. They presented themselves as friends of a wealthy, important man who paid well for massages.
Geographic Spread
The recruiter network operated in Palm Beach, New York, New Mexico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and internationally. Jean-Luc Brunel’s modeling operations extended the network to Europe.
Legal Consequences
Several women were charged in connection with the Maxwell prosecution for their roles as Maxwell’s assistants and potential recruiters. Some cooperated with prosecutors and provided testimony.
