The Epstein case generated an extraordinary volume of legal documentation: civil lawsuits, criminal filings, deposition transcripts, and unsealed documents. These documents mention many politicians and political figures.
Different Levels of Mention
Being mentioned in these documents means very different things depending on context. Some individuals are named as alleged participants in abuse. Others are mentioned because they were on flight manifests. Still others appear only in Epstein’s contact database or social records.
George Mitchell
George Mitchell (former Senate Majority Leader) appeared in records. Mitchell denied wrongdoing.
Bill Richardson
Former New Mexico Governor (and former Cabinet Secretary) Bill Richardson was named in some documents alleging he had been brought to Epstein’s private island. Richardson denied the allegations.
The Unsealing Process
The January 2024 unsealing of documents released hundreds of pages naming many individuals. Most mentions were ambiguous they showed connection to Epstein’s network without proving participation in crimes.
