The Wexner Relationship
Les Wexner — founder of Limited Brands (Victoria’s Secret, Bath & Body Works, Abercrombie & Fitch) — was Jeffrey Epstein’s most prominent known client and the foundation of his financial rise. The two reportedly met in the early 1980s through an introduction arranged by the Bronfman family.
Power of Attorney
In 1991, Wexner executed a broad power of attorney granting Epstein authority to manage assets, hire and fire employees, borrow money, and operate across the full scope of Wexner’s financial holdings. The breadth was unusual even for wealthy individuals’ advisors.
Key Asset Transfers
The nine-story, 21,000 sq ft townhouse at 9 East 71st Street in Manhattan — one of New York’s largest private residences — was originally owned by Wexner. He transferred it to Epstein’s trust in 1995 for an apparent consideration of $0.
Wexner’s Public Distancing
Wexner severed his financial relationship with Epstein around 2007, later claiming he was “victimized” and that Epstein had misappropriated funds. The FBI investigated but no charges were brought.
