The Sentence
On June 28, 2022, Judge Alison Nathan sentenced Ghislaine Maxwell to 20 years in federal prison. Maxwell had been convicted on December 29, 2021, on five of six counts at trial.

Prosecution’s Request
Prosecutors requested 30-55 years, arguing Maxwell played an “essential” role in Epstein’s trafficking operation and showed no remorse.
Defense Arguments
Maxwell’s lawyers argued for a 5-year sentence, claiming she was being punished for Epstein’s crimes after Epstein could never face trial.
Incarceration
Maxwell is currently held at FCI Tallahassee, a federal prison in Florida. She has appealed her conviction to the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.
Appeal Status (as of 2024)
The Second Circuit Court upheld the conviction in 2024. The Supreme Court declined to hear Maxwell’s appeal in 2025.
