Great Saint James Island: Epstein's Second USVI Property

In addition to Little Saint James, Epstein purchased the adjacent Great Saint James island in 2016, adding approximately 165 acres to his USVI holdings.

The Purchase

In 2016, Epstein purchased Great Saint James — a 165-acre uninhabited island adjacent to Little Saint James in the USVI — for approximately $18 million. Together the two islands formed a substantial private domain with limited public access.

Why Acquire a Second Island?

Theories include: preventing development on adjacent land that could compromise Little Saint James privacy; expansion plans for additional structures or activities; or simple appreciation-driven real estate investment.

Estate Proceedings

Following Epstein’s death, Great Saint James was part of estate proceedings in USVI probate courts. Like Little Saint James, it was sold to fund victim compensation. The new owners have access for development under applicable USVI land use rules.
