The Island
Little Saint James is approximately 75 acres located off the eastern tip of St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Epstein purchased it in 1998. He also owned Great Saint James, an adjacent larger island.
Development
Epstein invested heavily in developing the island. It featured a main residence, guest cottages, a massage parlor building, a blue-striped structure that attracted public attention online, and extensive infrastructure. The island required its own desalination and power generation.
Role in Victim Accounts
Multiple victims described being brought to the island by Epstein’s aircraft. The island was cited as an abuse location in numerous victim accounts, civil lawsuits, and court filings. Its remoteness from the mainland contributed to the isolation of victims.
Law Enforcement Access
Despite being a U.S. territory, the island’s privateness and remoteness meant law enforcement had limited visibility into activities there for many years.
Post-2019 Status
Following Epstein’s arrest in 2019 and death, federal agents searched the island. It became part of the estate’s assets. The USVI Attorney General’s lawsuit targeted Epstein’s USVI operations. The island was eventually sold.
