Sarah Ransome is a British woman who was trafficked by Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell in 2006 and 2007, beginning at age 22. Her account is one of the most dramatic in the Epstein case.
Recruitment
Ransome was recruited by Ghislaine Maxwell in New York in 2006. Like many victims, she was offered modeling or career opportunities and brought into Epstein’s orbit before understanding the nature of the arrangement.
Time in the Network
Ransome spent time at multiple Epstein properties between 2006 and 2007, including Little Saint James island. She has described:
- Regular sexual abuse by Epstein
- Trafficking to other men by direction of Epstein and Maxwell
- A sense of captivity — economic, psychological, and at times physical
The Escape Attempt
Ransome’s most striking account involves an attempted escape from Little Saint James:
- She attempted to swim from the island toward a neighboring boat or land
- The swim failed due to currents and distance
- She was recovered and returned to the island
This episode is often cited as evidence of the genuinely coercive and physically controlling nature of operations on the island — it was not purely psychological captivity.
