Background and Recruitment
Virginia Roberts (now Giuffre) was working as a locker-room attendant at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach when approached by Ghislaine Maxwell around 2000, at age 17. Maxwell allegedly offered her a job giving massages. She was subsequently brought into Epstein’s orbit.
Legal Actions
- 2011: Joined CVRA filing alleging the NPA violated the Crime Victims’ Rights Act
- 2015: Filed defamation suit against Ghislaine Maxwell, generating extensive depositions
- 2022: Filed civil lawsuit against Prince Andrew; he settled for approximately £12 million
- 2022: Reached settlement with Alan Dershowitz (disputed characterization by both sides)
The Prince Andrew Case
Filed in the Southern District of New York in August 2021. Giuffre alleged Andrew sexually abused her three times starting at age 17 — in London, New York, and the USVI. The case settled in February 2022 before trial.
Recognition
Giuffre’s persistence in litigating despite sustained efforts to discredit her accounts has been credited with keeping the broader Epstein accountability process active.
