In 2021, the executors of the Epstein estate authorized the demolition of many of the structures that had been built on Little Saint James Island in the U.S. Virgin Islands. The island, colloquially called “Pedophile Island” by some, had been a central location in survivor accounts and a subject of intense media attention.
The demolitions removed the distinctive blue-and-white striped building that had been widely photographed and speculated about, along with other structures. Victim advocates expressed concern that physical evidence was being destroyed, though investigators had already completed forensic work on the site.
The island was subsequently listed for sale as part of the settlement agreement with the U.S. Virgin Islands, which required the estate to divest the island with proceeds going toward victim compensation.
